AVIS
About the project
In the 1800s, this location was used as a tobacco factory, one of the oldest factories in northern Portugal and the largest in Porto. This is why the adjacent street is called “Fábrica”, meaning factory. The current Avis building was designed by the architect Júlio José de Brito in 1941 in typical “Estado Novo” period architecture, with some exquisite details, such as the main door and the minimalist balcony railings
